At the age of 17 I refinished my first piece of furniture, from there it became and addiction! Taking something headed for the landfill and giving it a second chance at life brings me great joy. Many of my pieces have been rescued from friends and family, thrift stores and even from the curb! I also complete custom client pieces.
Oak Dresser
This dresser was dragged out of my grandparents house. My grandmother had given it to me thinking it would best be suited for the burn pile. At the time I didn’t have the room or time to devote to this piece, and after my grandparents passed I decided I needed to give this old gem new life. I stripped off years and years of paint to expose gorgeous oak wood beneath. I knew I couldn’t cover the wood back up, so I opted to stain the top and drawer fronts in a custom mixed stain. The remainder of the body received a fresh coat of paint, and new handles were picked out. This piece now has a forever home in my house. A complete drab to fab transformation for this antique piece!
Farmhouse Dresser
After stripping multiple layers of paint off of this piece, I uncovered beautiful solid wood. The leg detail and dove tail drawer joints called me in instantly but once that wood was exposed I was in love. I used a warm stain on the top and drawer fronts to enhance the wood and freshened the body with a pop of farmhouse red paint! New hardware really gave this dresser a finished look.
Vintage dresser turned sideboard
This piece gave me a run for my money. I always try and uncover as much natural wood as I can, but unfortunately the drawer fronts on this piece were not in good condition. I stripped multiple layers of paint off of this piece. The top had some damaged veneer, so I removed that and stained the top in a dark stain. To add contrast and a pop of colour I went with a deep teal paint for the body. This once dresser turned infant change table was given new life as a sideboard.
Vintage Dresser
When I found this piece she was screaming for help! I believe someone made an attempt to refinish her, and gave up, sadly though their attempt caused a lot of damage. After sanding and sanding and more sanding she was ready for a white wash and fresh coat of neutral paint. She came to me with no hardware so I gave her a new set, and peeled off the very vintage shelf paper from the drawers. This piece was a labour of love and totally worth it, she will be loved for many more years!
